excellent review, but im pretty sure its lockett pundt who sings the chorus of Breaker, which i find very interesting cause that chorus is so sweet and simple. maybe Cox handed it over because he knew it would work best with Pundt's straightforward delivery.

That'll explain why it sounds so clean then, I'll change it

Which is good because Monomania was their worst since their debut

Sint - I actually quite like the fact their albums sound different and prefer Monomania to Microcastle. Mono grew on me a lot, title track and songs like Blue Agent are really good

To each their own, and Blue Agent is a very good track. Also yeah artwork is cool. The blue on the CD is actually the booklet and it's been stenciled out so that's pretty cool.

This is very good

But lacks something that makes me love Halcyon Digest

See Halcyon just had that extra touch of despair on tracks like Helicopter which really made it so good. Their style shouldn't work like that but it did.

I had stopped listening on Snakeskin because i got home after going for a walk and today I decided to come back to the album, and wow what a song i would have missed, Ad Astra is beautiful.

and He Would Have Laughed. those 2 tracks are untouchable by the rest of deerhunters discography.

Yeah agreed both standout, I'd like to see them have a full release of that sound but then again it would kinda take away from how special those specific tracks are.

He Would Have Laughed is my favourite Deerhunter tune also, my second favourite from Halcyon is Desire Lines but Helicopter is up there too.

I think Breaker and Ad Astra aren't too far behind that level

Earthquake is my favorite Deerhunter song I think.

Earthquake is a perfect opener for that album, I guess if you were to stretch this album with the inclusion of a couple more songs a similarly atmospheric opener here would have been interesting.

I see why they just chose to have 4 pop tunes in a row to open this one up though, in a certain mood this will be the Deerhunter album you reach for due to wanting that instant hit

The way He Would Have Laughed unfolds is incredible. Basement Scene and Desire Lines are up there also for me.

Earthquake is a hell of an opener. Always dug their ambient side.
