Glad you enjoy it so much Dragon...I'm a fan of their earlier work. To me this is too tame musically and devoid of any sensible lyrics...it just feels so phony.

Black Cadillac and State of My Head, just ugh

I'm also a pretty big fan of their older work. Us and Them is probably one of my favorite albums of all time and Leave a Whisper is amazing. It's when we start getting to SoM that I have some problems. I felt that that album was very uneven with some songs being really great like "What a Shame" or "Call Me" and the other songs being well flat out boring and uninteresting like "Cry for Help" or "Sin with a Grin". This is probably the first release I've enjoyed as a whole since "Us and Them".

State of My Head is total uninspired crap. Imagine Shinedragons to the maximum.
And these guys definitely had major potential back during their Us And Them days. Two solid back-to-back albums, a talented guitarist in Jasin Todd, and one of the best rock vocalists around in Brent Smith. Sadly, they axed Jasin and their bassist, made one more decent album, and then faded away into radio-rock anonymity.

Didn't think much of the singles, probably won't bother with this. Enjoyed reading this though.

Before this, Leave a Whisper was actually my least favorite Shinedown album. I didn't like how nearly every song followed the "slow verse/heavy chorus" formula. I'm in the minortiy though. I also loved The Sound of Madness and Amaryllis. This, though, it reminds me a lot of new Fall Out Boy for some reason. It's not the worst thing ever, but Shinedown it is not. It's boring and completely forgettable.

while four years later they failed to reproduce those results on the tepid and unnoticeable Amaryllis
this album sucked but it charted at #4 (their highest ever)

| |
Band was never very good after their debut so this surprises me not.

It's too bad this sucks. Cut the Cord was a really good track that piqued my interest.

Leave a Whisper had a few great tracks, Us and Them I forgot existed, The Sound of Madness is probably my favorite, Amaryllis had a few great tracks... I guess this one I'll forget existed. Nice review!
EDIT: I take that back, Us and Them had a few winners on it. Just never realized those songs were from that album. XD From what I've heard, this new one is just flat out bad.

Was disappointed when I saw the summary on the front page of the site. But when I saw who wrote the review, a little part of my soul died.
These guys were the first band I really called my "favourite", but I'm not sure if I want to subject myself to this having read about it.
RIP ties

Dam, thats a kick in the nuts. Quite enjoyed Cut The Cord, had hope for the album.
Got it spinning now, so will give it a listen before rating.

Pretty sure their singles are half the reason I stopped listening to radio when I was in high school. The other half being the radio usually sucks.
|
| |
Yeah Second Chance was essentially the worst song ever
|
| |
I...i thought it was a decent pop tune
|
| |
I get why you'd like it, but it was so fucking cheesy that it was really hard to listen to for me whenever someone played it tbh
