people on sputnik suck =[
i just can't understand how people don't like her aesthetic and go as far as to say they hate her.

Maybe this album has a good average cuz the people actually rating it are the ones who can bear all that boring

Ultraviolence is her only good album so far tho [2].
At least it wasn't all just a nice little show to please people. Ultraviolence had something Born To Die lacked completely: Emotion.

Bonny del Rico

born to die had plenty of emotion. let's face it, it's cool to hate on it. but that album was full of some of the catchiest hooks and that smoky, film-noir atmosphere it had was great.

there was absolutely nothing catchy about born to die

Born To Die was catchy as hell.
Imo her best songs are her non-album tracks like Big Eyes.

I don't care, if it's cool to hate on it or not. For one thing her whole show, her style is lame as fuck, which is of course very subjective, but I don't see the great thing about a COMPLETELY fake character and her debut showcases really nothing else. Secondly there's really not much catchy about those songs, I didn't even get all the fuzz about Video Games. It's a good track, but that's about it. And the album doesn't get better after it, it's just average stuff throughout.

boring critiques. can't tell if you're trolling or not tbh. fake character? artists have personas... pretty sure you like eminem, do you not? and the songs are obviously catchy as hell. even i can admit that my least favourite bands (like nickelback) have catchy songs.

I honestly find absolutely nothing catchy about Lana del Rey tbh

Not too fond of Eminem, especially not most of his "fun tracks" except for those on SSLP. If anything I like him for his more personal and earnest moments. And I really don't think her stuff is overtly catchy. I mean, yeah, some of her songs are in a way, but not more than any other of your usual bland pop artist. So it's nothing I'd point out as a major asset of any of her material and especially nothing that characterizes her on album length.
|
| |
seriously? are you sure you don't just dislike her and consequently think calling her songs catchy is affording her too much credit or something? because they seem pretty damn catchy to me, regardless of my position on how good her music is
|
| |
The closest she's been to being catchy is "Off to the Races" tbh
her facade isn't a bad idea per se but damn is her execution poor. marina & the diamonds did it better tbh

No, I don't think they are. And just like anyone else, I've definitely heard a song like Video Games enough to say if it is catchy for me or not.
That being said, I don't even think she's a bad artist, though I don't like her voice. I do like Ultraviolence for its gloomier tone and more personal (so to say) nature. She just doesn't work on Born To Die for me, that album is just boring. Musically, vocally and lyrically.

Marina nothing like Lana tho.

"state of dreaming" is the closest to lana tbh but yeah u get my point
i like lana's voice but she sucks
|
| |
born to die has way more musical variety than ultraviolence tbh, so i always get confused when people say it's more boring. and i would never make an argument for video games being as catchy as born to die or carmen
|
| |
born to die might be more varied but it's consistently boring tbh
|
| |
to me it just sounds like she's trying waaaaaaay too hard to be seductive to the point of self parody
