Yeah. Darkened Shrine is their best. This and Annihilation sound almost the same, but no other two Nile albums have the same vibe, imo.

I've been meaning to check more Nile tbh cause I love Annhilation.

Great review my man. I'll probably check this out within the next few days. Like you, I've only ever heard Annihilation... and I really like it a lot.

Also I'm really surprised this didn't already have a review.

Good review, a bit short for my taste but it's well written. Haven't given Nile any time so I might pick this up if I see it.
"There very little variation the" - missing 'is' or 'there's'

You're the man Brandon, and thanks Scuro. m/
And yeah Mista I was kinda surprised too. I figured this would've already had one.

If you want a death metal album that pushes the boundaries, you might want to look elsewhere....
anyone who expected nile to start pushing boundaries all the sudden are terribly confused

Well like I said I've only heard 2 Nile albums, and technically the summary is still true. ;]
|
| |
oh im not arguing with the summary im just sayin' band does not push the envelope.

Not every band needs to be Gorguts and constantly re-invent themselves, js. I look to Nile for the riffs, and Nile delivers for me every time. I know what I'm getting when I buy a new album. I just wish this album had more solos, tbh.
|
| |
saying they hardly push the envelop (or ever have really) or play around with their style doesnt mean they are expected to write a prog album next time around. some bands can do the same shit over and over and be rad, and other get tired. nile is somewhere in the middle where they seem to make the same shit over and over again and its pretty much always consistently decent, nothing more and nothing less.
always wished they embraced the little egyptian passages more like whats his tits solo project

Disagree with that. These guys are definitely on the top of the heap for me with consistency and riffs. The Egyptian passages I could actually do without, but they add variety and the one on this album is pretty cool.

im not really a huge dm fan in general anyways so i wont even argue on that

Idk...I listen to a lot of dm obvs and whenever a new Nile album drops there's a ton of riffs that I haven't heard the like of yet. So that's cool to me 'cause it's pretty rare.
|
| |
dm all sounds samey to me so im no expert, not my jam. i much prefer bm, sludge, doom, stoner all that bullshit

only heard a couple Nile records, this is about what I would expect from one
nice rev hawks pos'd
|
| |
but yeah for some reason nile has always sounded exceptionally samey to me albeit decent at doing it
|
| |
agreed hard about the egyptian part, i really wish they'd incorporate more of that into their music. nothing else really sets them apart from the crowd, besides i guess their technical proficiency. but the riffs are all basically recycled, the drum fills never change much, the vox are boring...

there's a lot of decent samey bands but I haven't gotten to the point where I've dug so far I need to check more of their shit out, there's still a potential heap of different and higher quality stuff I'm trying to get around to hearing
