This might as well be a generic pop record.
Mort: Roads That Don't End and Views That Never Cease is a decent song.

They had some enjoyable tracks on their debut, like the masturbation song. Anything past TPAS was ugh.

I'm pretty disappointed. Never had anything against this band, in fact, I've always liked them. I kinda expected this album to wind up as such, but was holding out at least a little bit of hope. I find it strange that their ratings don't change THAT much over their career, but you have to admit that this is nothing like how they started out.

Agreed tresm87. It's good for what it is; don't bother comparing it to their previous material.
Defiance is also pretty great.

I thought this band could've been saved with the exclusion of the original clean vocalist, meatier riffs, more vocal delivery from the Screamer/Singer. I was wrong it went the other direction. First two tracks are decent.

^I guess I'm one of the few who actually likes Kyle Pavone's contributions in this band. I think the reduction of him has helped this band go in the wrong direction. I guess that "Defiance" is okay after several listens, but honestly that song is all that's going for this album. Songs like "Everything as Planned" and "To Move on Is to Grow" just felt so much more epic. This band is missing the orchestral elements and guitar riffs they use to have. I saw reduction in Tracing Back Roots, but in this album the mentioned elements are nowhere to be found. Not to mention Dave sounds too much like Skillet when he does the clean singing. All of it is just mediocre and bland.

Yeah Kyle's parts in songs like To Move on Is to Grow are massive. You lose that nice contrast between the two vocalists when they're both doing cleans.

I still spin all of them. :D

so.....I just heard Regenerate on music choice, and dare I say it sounded good. Surprising since I always thought this band was cringeworthy. Listening to Defiance right now and its also pretty dope. Gonna give this a spin.

Good to hear other people like this. Those are definitely two of the heaviest numbers off of this, so be prepared for a lot more poppy stuff to follow when you hear the whole thing.

Half the band started a side project called Crucible stating "It's heavier than We Came as Romans"
|

Yeah apparently its gonna be "super heavy"

I think its an ex-drummer, I honestly don't know who it is from taproot. I just wanna hear Dave without Kyle ruining a song. Hopefully some technical guitarwork can come out of it but I doubt it.
