Dusk is one of the best albums ever bro idk how you could put it and Damnation on the same level... Even though I still dig Damnation. ;]
Good to hear you're at least digging what you've heard from this though. m/

I feel like you need to jam Dusk again as well as the rest of the first 5 releases.
I mean idk how much you jammed it, but if you feel like it's just ok then it's probably not enough hahaha.

I've jammed each one once, to be fair. I don't know, when I was a kid these guys were hailed as real evil fuckers when they started out, so when I finally listened to them (this year) the sound wasn't what I was expecting at all. haha Suppose I should listen to them again knowing what to expect this time.

Evil for the mainstream I guess haha. But yeah they've always been more about vampirism and more gothic themes like that which made them different than a lot of bm bands during the early days.

Well that album has grown reviews all over itself very quickly. I had plans for doing one but now it seems kinda pointless. Unless I'm going to focus on the negatives...
I got pretty excited when I heard "Right Wing..." and I would never believe that I would get excited for a new CoF record in 2015, especially after the two previous slumps. On the whole this album is... I still don't know. I feel like it's getting overpraised for not being CoF 2011'-2013'. I mean, it's obviously superior but I'm not sure if you can stack it alongside their classic works. And maybe I just really, really grew out of CoF - I mostly jam the older records because they were the first ever band I've heard that was properly "heavy" and didn't "sing" but "scream" (I was around 14 at the time, you can imagine what a blow to the head it was) - but I feel like with all the prowess of the new guitarists they still don't make the same tuneful melodic riffs as CoF used to do... and when they do, they sound almost lifted from older songs.
I don't skip tracks on this album though. So that's saying something.

Captain I can see where you're coming from for sure, but at the same time, it's getting all the praise because it IS the best thing they've done since Midian and that's just a fact.
And I do say this holds up well with their classics. It's not quite as good, but for a band to release easily their best album since 2000 in the year 2015 while consistently putting out new albums since then is really saying something imo.

After some playthroughs I find Yours Immortally, Deflowering and Blackest Magick to be the standouts. I'm close to bumping this.

That would mean I'd have to raise the ratings for Dusk and V Empire by 0.5 which would fuck up my ratings. I mean, this is the strongest 3.5 for any CoF I have, well except Principle. It's theoretically a 4 and I think it needs at least one go still before finally settling. But I'll be spinning this some more anyway haha
