Well I was talking pretty informally so I wasnt looking to give any intelligent definition. I was just talking about SOME characteristics it could have, a lot of the stuff PT does. Genres aren't really set in stone. All good dude.

Yeah there are a lot of alt rock bands that incorporate psychedelic elements but psych definitely doesn't have its roots in alt rock. You don't have to be so harsh about it though JT...

"I was just talking about SOME characteristics it could have, a lot of the stuff PT does"
this is so ambiguous it doesn't really say anything.

Yeah genres aren't set in stone but there's a reason we don't call PT post-punk and similarly there's a reason we don't call it psych (after Signify). It's fine to say some features of alternative rock kind of remind you of psych but psych = "alt rock music that is pretty keyboard heavy and has a trippy atmosphere" is just wrong.
So to sum up all is good but I think Jamie was right to intervene ;)

"You don't have to be so harsh about it though JT..."

I wasn't aware I was being harsh. I just questioned Mongi's statement whilst showing that I was somewhat surprised about what he said and then answered his question (albeit my explanation wasn't that great or detailed) without insulting him or being rude in any way.

"Alright forgive me for not being precisely/technically exact with my wording or the genre police"

No one's nit-picking for the sake of it or anything, it wasn't that you were slightly off with your wording it was just that your idea of what psych is was incorrect.

That one wasn't directed at you jamie. Still, I would like to know what it is considering how I'm wrong. Not that I normally care about defining shit but in this instance I'd like to know.

It's not easy listening like most of the other PT stuff for sure but it's super unique and it's awesome.
