i heard empires on the radio a few weeks back and was okay with it, definitely less grating than anything off the first album
i liked a lot about that album but it felt really contrived to me. i heard half of crystals today and decided i didn't want to hear the rest of it, but the review convinced me otherwise - so thanks

Yeah, I definitely think this is better than the debut. In terms of catchiness, it's not quite as immediate, but it's beautiful in places and still very memorable after multiple listens. It's kind of like the new alt-J in that regard.
