Garden of Laveder - I remember that gig in Shep Bush he mentions, was a joke heckle, he had the audience in the palm of his hand that night despite playing 90% songs no one had heard before. He's got a patient audience, how many other artists could get away with that?

I love when songs are long, but don't drag like these

Yeah AFA - he is really settling into this new approach, he's so good using the music to colour around the scenes of his life he's recounting now. The end of 'with a sort of grace' is a good example, so evocative. Each piece moves as the imagery/memory moves - it's incredible.

Never known a 40 something male who's so obsessed with cats though. All sides of Kozelek are given equal billing here - including the feline lover

I feel like this is more consistent in quality than Benji - There is nothing as bad as that Newton song on here. The only weak spot is "Little Rascals", which no matter how many times I listen to it, I can't remember a thing about it.

I'm surprised that this isn't getting more attention on here. This is great, right up there with Benji.

Very great review. I'm enjoying this more than the previous LP. The music here is a co-protagonist with the lyrics, and not a mere accompaniment like in "Benji".

The music also is way less typically folksy than Benji. With A Sort Of Grace sounds completely different than what I expected out of this band

This isn't the first time Kozelek has brought the riffs Coma - there are some on Ghosts/April but even more on the latter day Red House Painters albums (see Make Like Paper)
