garage days is absolutely cool for a EP of a band doing obscure covers. If i or anybody didn't know better you would probably think these were metallica songs.Honestly i thought last caress had more balls than the original version.

i totally disagree with the description 'immature' for Last Caress. It's a killer Misfits song, a classic in my opinion. Even though i prefer the original one, metallica cover ain't bad either.
*Metallica showed appreciation to the band with their 'Die My Darling' cover in latter years as well.
Besides, your review is well written.

Following the death of Cliff Burton, the now established juggernaut known as Metallica decided to ease in new bassist Jason Newsted with a rawly produced collection of covers. 'The $5.98 EP: Garage Days Re-Revisited' took 5 tracks from the band's various influences & saw the quartet twist punk, hard rock & post-punk into their distinctive take on thrash metal. The ambitious song choices are surprisingly diverse, so it's no surprise that not everything works here. So while the EP achieves its purpose (has some fun & promotes some lesser known bands) & is solid, it's ultimately one for the fans. Recommended Tracks: Helpless & The Wait.
