Like all FNM albums, it grows on you big time.

I am shocked by how good this record is. I hated the other review from Lambda because I feel like he missed the point of Mike Patton. He doesn't give a fuck and he is insane but his music has always been all over the place. He could be considered the Frank Zappa of Gen X.

@Polyethylene I'm counting on it!

WilhelmBlack: I've listened to almost everything Mike Patton has ever released, so I didn't 'miss the point' of him. As I said in the review, his performance is fantastic, but lyrically it's lacking. And one of my complaints with this album is that it isn't diverse, or 'all over the place,' enough.

It works a lot better in context of the album

I think most of the songs here work well in and out of the album's context, including "Motherfucker" but probably excluding the bookending tracks.

Not a fan of the mf song, hated hearing it live the first time, don't like the recorded version either. Hoping it's a low point on this

literally what is the problem with Motherfucker, one of my favourite jams on here (no-one else seems to think so nothing to worry about Doofus)
if anything Superhero was the song that had me a bit worried but even that fits fine in the context

I actually didn't like it as a single, yet to hear it in album order

I loved MF even as a single and even more in album order, just don't understand the lukewarm reactions it got

Thanks for the great review! The album is divine and it's nothing less to me than the best album the band has produced. Been a fan since the 90's.

I don't know I probably thought it didn't have that much depth at first. But time will tell.

^^ this. probably the only Faith No More where space and minimalism is a huge part of the sound.

All of these people speaking the truth, I love it.
This album has such a sense of space and intent. Just doesn't have the same muscle (or length) as KFAD or Angel Dust.
