there's not as much juxtaposition between his lack of emotional stability and sickeningly sweet pop songs

I absolutely love this so far, maybe it's not Gossamer but it's insanely fun.

Ok I can see myself getting tired of this eventually but it's still really fun, Five Foot Ten is just stupidly happy

There's a whole bunch of great tracks on the first half of the album, but the 2nd half just dissapoints, especially because a bunch of the songs are just reprises of those first couple songs.

Incredibly disappointed by the lyrical content on this album, used to be my favorite feature of Passion Pit. As Gossamer and Manners are two of my favorite albums ever, Passion Pit is my favorite band, this just feels like a major step backwards. Yes, it is insanely catchy at points, but it just feels pretty lackluster compared to previous outings. Great review, pos.

^ I second that. Had high hopes for this release. I think 3.0 is pretty much the rating I'd give this as well.

Honestly, there might be 3 solid tracks on this. The rest range from descent to monotonous.

congrats on the feature man, well done review. love lifted up from these guys, only found them out after Madeon did a collabo with 'em on Adventure so that's cool.

Enjoying this more than Gossamer surprisingly. Maybe its just different strokes for different folks. Just find this more engaging and clear.

agree with the rating but not the review. the music and lyrics aren't bland because angelakos is in a better place, they're bland because of the sheer lack of effort that went into this thing. you make it sound like the album was destined to be average because he isn't writing lyrics about emotional turbulence that make stark contrast with the music. nah, I'm sure he could be a happy man as well as make good music if he'd put his damn back into it

@SPRFan - cheers dude =) That Madeon collab is better than almost everything on here.
@aaanndyy - I definitely see your point, though I do think there is often a correlation between inspiration and tribulation.

not even looking forward to this anymore =[

Smart move to save money using a Christmas catalogue promotional poster for your album art

^ good one :-]

is that the autistic kid from fargo (tv show) on the cover??
|

Not a fan. But I didn't like Gossamer than much either so. And yeah album cover is odd. Made me think they were trying for some kind of feels like the M83 double lp cover but this one is trying WAY TOO hard

i'd rather listen to the kid on the cover throw a temper tantrum about some bullshit than ever listen to this again

I feel like the record has a lot of good ideas but are never really pushed to their boundaries to develop into something bigger.
