Superb album!
But it makes me wonder, why does no one mention the lyrics? I think they are so well written and add a lot of dark atmosphere to the twisted and haunting songs.
One thing intrigues me though: Why is there in almost every song a gay-themed reference? Eoin is constantly singing about "his boyfriend", and "I just wanna be his" and so on...I scanned the lyrics and almost everywhere it's pretty neutral, it could be about a boy or a girl, but when he gets more precise, it's always towards a male person, never a female. Or is it just me? :D Or is this all part of a maybe David Lynch-esque concept album?

This is pretty great. The Snake and Side by Side are amazing back to back.

"The Snake and Side by Side are amazing back to back."
Yeah definitely the high point of the album for me.

This shit is massively underrated. Fantastic album.

Very good album. Still thinking about rating it a 4 or higher. Also, as already mentioned, cover is amazing. Am I the only one who thinks a good cover makes an album better - or actually it's more that a bad cover makes an album worse for me cuz I always have that picture in my head when I listen to songs from it.

I put off listening to Dance Gavin Dance for a good year or two because of their stupid band name and silly ass artwork. Then by their self-titled I realized they were amazing and just got over it.
This album artwork definitely creates some awesome imagery, for sure.

I feel like the artwork decides about the kind of atmosphere you get when you listen to the album...and sometimes that sucks. It's amazing with this one because it's so dark and really creative. But when listening to their debut, everything feels black & white and somehow boring, dunno.

A black and white album cover that really encompasses an album in particular is Barrow's "Being Without." Fuckin' incredible album, and one of the most amazing album covers I've seen in years.

Yeah that looks nice. Even though it's also jut back & white / grey it's still totally different and conveys a very atmospheric feeling. Gotta check out this band.

They got some critical acclaim on sputnik when that album dropped, for sure.

I mean it's still a good album but this one is so much better imo...maybe I'm just no fan of short songs.

Really thinking about whether this could be a 4.5 due to the amazing drumming. It really stands out.

This is not bad, especially considering I stumbled upon it on a "Year end list" released on December the 1st.
