I feel like most uk english indie/altrock bands come through with a decent debut then usually just fade quickly.

Wombats, cribs to an extent (their decline has taken longer than most), vampire weekend, all the other ones i cant remember because like i said they faded quickly

Fuck i had way more bands in mind

I totally agree with that Mort. I've always put it down to the fact that most English bands will release EPs first and wisely build up to their debut. Many don't necessarily fade away, but they don't match their debuts either.

PS: You may want to check where Vampire Weekend are from!

Yeah, they're more an English style of band. BTW, they're last album was excellent imo.

Oi now, im half aussie (my mum is one of you lot)

Vampire weekend peaked in terms of popularity over here after their debut though, which is sad because they are still quite good. Dont here them get played anywhere near as much as they used to

You could make a case that VW's 2nd LP wasn't as good as their debut, but their 3rd one tops them both. Unfotunately, that wasn't the case with The Wombats.

Yeah, I know I'm weird, but their second album always spoke to me far more. The first one was just kinda "eh".

Basically, it seems like if any of the songs were used in The Inbetweeners that it's gonna be a one hit wonder band.
