I like both Lucassen and Anneke a lot.

The lyrics are not very interesting, but otherwise it's lurvly.

The Shores of India video is amusing. Rock that sitar, Arjen.

Fell in love with Anneke on 'Addicted' but I doubt she could top that here, partly because AAL is nowhere near the songwriter that Dev is.
I'll give it a jam sometime but I'm already cringing just looking at the cover and reading 'symphonic metal'

There are definitely cringeworthy moments but if you're a fan of Anneke's voice you'll find some enjoyment at least haha. Never checked Addicted or anything from Devin Townsend, unfortunately.

We'll see haha, just checked the running time as well and don't know if I'll be able to sit through more than the first half!
Addicted is just the most fun record you could dream of and it's Anneke playing metal again, what else could you ask for? + Devin is simply a genius of our time. One of the best vocal duos I could possibly dream up

Ocean Machine, City (by Strapping Young Lad) and Terria are his best albums for me, and all easy 5s
Ocean machine and Terria are kind of weird melodic, ambient, emotional metal - I always say like a metal Pink Floyd. Takes you away
City is fear factory on steroids; death/thrash/black/industrial/everything metal that is heavy as all hell
But the man has over 20 albums in probably at least 10 different genres, so have a look around if those don't take your fancy there's punk, country, ambient, new age, pop metal, straight prog, anything you could want really

Cool, thanks Ben. Guess I'll start with Ocean Machine and see where that takes me.
