Love you Sowing but I kind of agree that analysing any lyric from this album outside of its greater context is a bit of a self-defeating exercise, because they all contribute so well to a greater whole
Good writing anyway though, oh and also best album

Exactly, that's why it's been so difficult to review. I've wanted to cover this in some way since at least 2011, but have always struggled. Just figured #250 would be the best time to take a crack at it. If not now, I might have never.

For sure, I get that. I could write pages and pages on this and barely scratch the surface of what it all means. Essentially part of it being a classic is it being almost impossible to pin down lyrically, and therefore almost impossible to review. Props for taking a good crack at it

I remember you were going for your 250th. I saw mewithoutYou ---> STAFF and was like, this one has to be Sowing.

You be correct.
And yeah Rowan that's the best way I'd describe what I did: take a crack at it. It's not my best review and certainly not my worst...but very meaningful.

"If she comes circling back we'll end where we'd begun
Like two pennies on the train track the train crushed into one.
But if I'm a crown without a king, if I'm a broken open seed
If I come without a thing, then I come with all I need."
Favorite lyrics of all time.

That one's great too. Even with all the lyrics I discussed in my review, I still feel like I'm missing some great passages.

Really great review. Convinced me to finally check this. And congrats on 250!

The lyrics in The Dryness and the Rain are probably my favorite off of here...seriously cannot wait for their upcoming album

I loved Ten Stories, to me that's almost as good as this album. So I'd just be thrilled with a repeat of that.

The whole thing has probably some of the best lyrics of all time but my favourite really has to be
"You kept your distance out of fear you'd break
But what good's a single windchime hanging quiet all alone?
The music our collisions would make
Is the sound that turns the road that leads us back home into home"
I mean, fuck
