They recently settled their like 9 year long ongoing lawsuit and are now speeding it up. There's one song completely finished and 10 in progress. Adam Jones said optimistically he hopes for a release by the end of the year (more likely that it will be mid-late next year)

Lol when they're all pushing 60? If it got to that point it wouldn't happen. I'd expect summer 2016

Pretty good for a first review. One thing I wanted to point out, in the second paragraph, where you talk about the recording quality. The statement about starting out with Tool's regular albums kind of diverts the review when you start going into detail about where to start (The diverting statement in question is "Or even start at Undertow...). Otherwise it's pretty solid.

They're the blueprint for modern progressive metal, how did I use the word wrong?

They're the forerunners of modern hard rock/progressive metal in the same way that Korn were the forerunners of 90s/early 2000s nu metal

Cold & Ugly and Jerk-Off are the only reason I listen to this but god if they aren't some of the purest angry fun tracks I've heard from these guys. Need to double check if I like the versions on Opiate more than here but this is a pretty damn good first demo.

could be way off, but I’ve always thought of his lyrics to be asking why we can’t start humanity over it get second try (start over) from the beginning of time, starting with the Garden Eden. I feel like Jesus blow your whistle, is similar to a referee in sports. Jesus lived among us and saw how bad it was, the game we were playing, the struggles, so Maynard is saying blow your fucking whistle, aggressively begging for a “timeout”, asking Jesus to help stop this. Asking why can’t you ask God to start this over. Maynard seems to be pointing out all the miseries and pains humans endure, and the fact that we feel the need to have to be intoxicated or high to feel good, so Jesus step in, or why can’t Mary whisper this to her son, put a bug in his ear help this cause. He seems to also note the shadows behind him, the sin, the devil provoking us, so why can’t that devil be put to an end. When we’re on drugs or alcohol we feel good, so Maynard is asking why can’t this be the way we always feel. So he’s speaking to Jesus and Mary, put an end to this nonsense and try persuading God to give us that fresh start to avoid temptation, sin and pain. Again, this is just what I took from it.
