I used to be all about this guy, but the pikes thing has really ruined him for me. Had to check this out after this review though.



He's still got it when actually tries. Although i miss the days when he put out real albums like "Dragons of Eden", "Captain EO's Voyage" or "Colma" which were not all about the "noodling".

What have you heard by him though? Because based on the last 5 years of output I can understand the hate. But the dude has a lot of worthwhile stuff under his belt.

I've honesty only heard his older stuff like Electric Tears, which was inoffensive but unbearably dull, and bits and pieces from other highly rated albums of his all of which was either boring or awful.

I refuse to even entertain the idea of listening to his newer stuff seeing that he wasn't even very good when he took his time with his releases. I mean does he seriously think people want to hear like 20 albums a year from him?

Instrumental guitar music is a no no for me anyway for the most part.

Can see that your mind is made up about his work so I'm not going to bother with trying to convince you. In my opinion he's got a lot of incredible instrumentals under his belt.

Guy has a scary discography and it's definitely hit or miss, a lot more miss than hit as well. But when the guy's on to a hit, it's real fucking great. Word.

Totally understand why people don't like him, I'm a fanboy and I still go through patches where I just don't want to jam. I always seem to come back though idk, it's good fun, there's some really great albums hiding in the pikes even if they're mostly subpar.

My thoughts exactly, though I probably wouldn't call myself a "fanboy" haha.
