True that it bleeds together and every song aims for that big moment too much - some personality is lost. I don't think it is generic though. And I like Kelly enough that her good performances and solid lyrics make it listenable.

This is a really confusing analogy. I mean, what else would you put on bare bones? A coat of paint? Rhinestones?
I get that the point of the statement is that a nice singing voice doesn't help a bad product, but "meat" is literally the ONLY thing that goes on "bare bones". The meat is all you strip OFF of the bones. That's why they're bare. There's no meat. If you put meat ON bare bones, then you end up with what you should have.
