"I don't really think the Have Mercy comparison fits"
I actually agree for the most part. I know they did that split together (which still served its purpose), but Have Mercy lean more towards pop-punk, whereas Daisyhead don't. There are some musical comparisons though.
Like I said earlier, B&C were the 1st band I thought of in comparison... Although, I think Daisyhead have more of a 90s alt vibe to them.
One thing I have noticed with these guys where they have to be careful (& it may be only 2 of their 17 tracks I've heard); some of their intros sound suspiciously like other tunes. You don't have to think too hard about the beginning to the title track here, to find a comparison. And 1 of their tracks off their debut EP sounded like Senses Fail's 'Cant Be Saved'.

It's not a longshot by any means, don't get me wrong, but yeah, B&C fits better. Superheaven + Citizen nails it for me (mainly because of the guitar sound), but that's just me. It's a very good review anyways, I like when reviews focus on lyrics as usually, there's not enough time to do that because you want to churn out the first review quickly.

Great review and album
also i'd throw seahaven into the comparison discussion
|
| |
@DaveyBoy, hmmm i didn't notice that, but hopefully it's just a coincidence because i really like these guys
@JohnFire, thanks for the compliment, you seem like a good dude. and thanks for unintentionally recommending superheaven haha. heard a couple tracks by them on spotify and thought they were great
anyways, i might switch out have mercy for balance and composure in the review and do a couple edits later on

first couple songs and then 'Lost Her' are really great. rest of the album gets kinda stale quickly.
|
| |
idk i love the closing track, and the tracks i didn't love at first are growing on me
@Betray, didn't see your post before, thanks man glad you liked it. i also haven't heard seahaven so i guess i have another band to check out now

| |
Listening now. Sounds great so far. Definitely reminds of Balance & Composure too. Nice write-up!

Checking these guys out tonight or possibly tommrow morning. Listened to a couple songs off their ep a second ago and definitely enjoyed it. Great review.

|
| |
first song is great. going to listen to the whole thing
|
| |
meh, stopped about halfway through. started sounding pretty generic
|
| |
you stopped before 2 of the best tracks man :/ lost her and i didn't deserve this are probably my favorites
also thanks henry and feather, glad you dig
|

Hi Betray :^]
Im excited to check this out, I have been so busy lately I have not had any time to find new music and make playlists and sadly I've fallen into a slump of only listening to radio music to and from work which is terribly boring after awhile.
|
| |
@Atari Thanks so much for saying that
|
| |
Not really enjoying this much. I feel like this style peaked back in 2013 when B&C, Have Mercy, and Turnover all put out incredible albums, and since then its been downhill for everybody else.

Great review man.
The subject matter here is heavy indeed.
|
| |
I'M FEELIN' THIS!
|
| |
thanks manosg, not sure you'd like this band but i appreciate you taking the time to read the review
@brofo, I actually liked this more than balance and composure's last album, but I can see where you're coming from. That's kind of the point i was going for in my review - they don't have the most original sound, but the lyrics really stood out to me in a fantastic way which is actually one of the most important things to me in the genre
@dbizzles, glad you're feeling it. nice triforce made out of pizza btw
|
| |
I definitely agree with you on the importance of lyrics in this genre. When i have the time to re listen to this, i'll try to key in on the lyrics more for sure
