Nice review, ponton. Liked the first one from this guy, but agreed that it's gotten boring since. May not bother checking this one.

Don't know what you guys are on about, nothing new, but fun-est post rock album since Love of Cartography.

"fun-est post rock album since Love of Cartography"
You can't really use the "[adjective]-est since [album name]" formula for a record that just came out last year.

Why not?

Because it's sort of redundant in such a small time frame. It's like saying Black Water Park is the best Opeth since Still Life; there're so few viable alternatives between the two titles that comparing them is rather pointless. If this is a decent record and is also fun, then of course it would be the "most fun" post-rock album since Cartography because there hasn't been enough time between the two to allow for any other albums to be released that could even compete in the first place.

There's been a crap-ton of post rock since Love of Cartography, you just haven't listened to it...

"fun-est" post-rock, not post-rock in general. I listened to tons of this genre last year but little of it came near in terms of "funness" against cartography--or in general quality in the first place. Like, of course cartography was a hallmark of fun post-rock since it was one of the better albums of last year. Very little was able to come near it so saying this one album is the fun-est since that album isn't really indicative of anything given the close timeframes between releases.

If you like fun post-rock tho have you jammed last year's Alpha Male Tea Party? It's totes a poppin record.

Not really my cup of tea (more math rock) but I can appreciate why you would like it.

Yeah album is pre generic post-rock by the numbers. Antlers is a pretty good jam tho. It's all just too reliant on crescendos
imo. No actual substance to the songwriting. I mean, I love epic sounding stuff as much as the next guy but when that's all
the music has going for it then it starts to get old, fast.
