Danke, I've been meaning to do more In Flames. Colony and Whoracle should come soon. And then of course I have to review the final two Children of Bodom albums. :D

The Jester Race >>> Rest of In Flames
Im not gonna lie, this is by far their best albums...it blows my mind that I owned some of their other work before I bought this...but I guess that's fine cause if I had bought this first, I would hate everything else except Colony and Clayman, just because this album is THAT good. This Message Edited On 05.08.06

This album and the two you mentioned are probably my favorite In Flames, though lately it's been TJR and Come Clarity. This definitely slays anything they've ever done.

When I copied this album to put it on my IPod, I seperated "The Jester Race" from "Black-Ash Inheritance" and never listened to "Black-Ash Inheritance".
Now I see the error in my ways because "Goliaths Disarm Their Davids" is a f***ing mind-blowing song.

No, I havent. And now I feel stupid, because I just wrote a journal ranting about how I need to find new bands, and here I am, not having heard anything by At The Gates...
I guess I know what to buy next now, huh

I actually suggested that in your journal like twenty seconds ago. Go figure.

Superb album from a great band. It is good to see that In Flames have finally returned to form with Come Clarity. Sweet review too SF - your reviews are always great reads.

Fantastic album, and one of the best of the Gothenberg Sound.
One of the hightlights for me on this album, is the lyrical genius. Consistent poetry, delivered with a beautiful rhythmic growl.
And I'd say At the Gates were the defining Gothenberg band, seeing as though all others were influenced from there.

I doubt ATG was gothenburg. They preceded the gothenburg genre imo. but yea, youre right in saying all others were influenced by them.

The only bad thing about this album was the puns used in the review of it.

I agree about ATG not being strict Gothenburg as I dont think they are melodic enough. By which I mean that they have a sound that is a bit more raw and aggressive than say Dark Tranquillity, In Flames or even Arch Enemy. Although Im not arguing that they dont have elements of Gothenburg in their music.
I dont know enough about genres, so dont take this as educated fact.

Easily their 'second' best album. I think Clayman defined what In Flames are all about. There are a few weak tracks on here and Clayman is just solid. Thats just my opinon though. A nice, consise review once again ShadowsFallen! This Message Edited On 12.10.06

The only song I've heard is Moonshield. It was extremely incredible. I have Colony and have wanted to check this out for a while. Colony is a classic.
