I don't have anything against the name but I can definitely see how someone would find it dumb haha

A mixture of "Ghoul" and mount "Golgotha" sounds pretty cool to me.

That band name doesn't set your expectations too high.

i mean the band is named "ghoulgotha" that should tell you everything you need to know

it sounds exactly like how dumb that name is

cmon now hype, plenty of sweet death metal has had awful names. i mean, metal in general is pretty silly. that's part of what's so great about it!

im not saying that death metal doesnt have a ton of bad band names, like SCREAM said, it's
basically a staple

im saying that in this case this dumb band name is an indicator of how dumb the music is.

so you can just pick and choose willy-nilly if a bad name means bad music based on whether you like the band or not?

Jac is more close to the truth, i mean it's not offensively bad like he says, but it's pretty meh and the leads are definitely bad and the rest is pretty boring, so yeah it's like 2.5

This is some pretty solid death/doom. It's nothing especially unique, but it's just weird enough to keep me interested.

The album seems to have some production hiccups at certain points, such as the beginning of Gazing into Melted Night, where there is a slight lag between the guitars (about 12 seconds into the track and a few other spots). This is present on a couple of tracks. Fortunately they're easily fixable using Adobe Audition or WavePad, and fixing those spots makes the album sound much less awkward and more professionally done. I just got done editing all the troublemakers, so hopefully it makes for a better listening experience.

Gazing into Melted Night sounds so darn goofy, its almost endearing. Those lead riffs are so incompatible, and that tempo change at the end of the song sounds really clumsy. So far this isn't looking to good, but I'll keep listening.

God this is sloppy as all hell.

Literally feels like improv, and in a bad way.
