Cool stuff man!
It took me a while to get used to the changes Cathedral made after their monster of a debut. Glad I stuck with it but, this and Carnival kick ass in a whole other way!

Right on man. I'm always encouraging the new-coming listeners to approach these kind of records with an open heart, because if they do they will get rewarded. Besides, the contradicting nature of this record is what makes it so special. It's amazing to have tracks such as Ride and Midnight Mountain because these groovy riffs help the slower songs like Ashes You Leave and Phantasmagoria to sound sinister.

The videos for Ride and Midnight Mountain pretty much sum up what these guys were probably going through at
the time. That is, sick of morbidity (despite the incredible artistic influence it obviously had) and
willing to just have some fun.
The mood after Equilibrium could go nowhere but up, so why not take it all the way? And thus you wind up
with tracks you can sing along to like Hopkins.
Grooving all night!

Dude, don't forget to share your thoughts once you listen to this.
"The mood after Equilibrium could go nowhere but up, so why not take it all the way?"
I agree. The mood was the main reason their debut sounded so doomed.

I only rate albums after I've purchased a physical copy. Otherwise I'd be rating albums all day and I just don't have the time to do that, especially when I prefer to sit down and listen to an album the whole way through before coming to a final conclusion. This one has evaded my grasp for a while now.

Rest assured, it's not an easy album to find. You can always check it on the internet or you can download it. That is not stopping you from purchasing the album later on.
