Checked out the first half yesterday, not too bad. Being Beige is actually pretty nice, and Drum + Fife, Anaise! and One and All are also good as well.

Claiming that Corgan has Stalinist views is absurd considering he's now a Christian.

"An admission of the excess that largely made The Smashing Pumpkins a difficult ask..."

Did you mean difficult task?

You have this tendency to read way. too. deeply into the stuff you're reviewing

I mean it's good writing and all and you make lots of solid points on the record itself but, like, Stalinist views? Seriously? And what does that have anything to do with the actual musical content of the album

Definitely liking this a LOT more than Oceania. This is probably Corgan's best since Adore (1998). It's light and hollow and lacks substance, but at least it's a fun listen unlike Oceania.

Find it weird that Oceania is rated so much higher than this already when for me this is miles ahead of that release. Probably the LP I've enjoyed most from them since Adore.

This album is a drag. It drones on to Zeitgeist levels, except it seems like it's trying less.

Casey Crescenzo gave the original The Dear Hunter lineup the boot and made it pretty obvious pretty quick that The Dear Hunter is his project and his project alone. Couldn't it just be that Billy Corgan is the 90's version of Casey Crescenzo?
