"you essentially mention that if people don't enjoy this, they simply don't get it:"

I am just saying if you aren't focusing on the lyrics, reading them, and listening multiple times,

you aren't appreciating this like the artist intended it to be. You might still dislike this, but if

you aren't even listening to the lyrics, you clearly aren't trying to like this album.

I really think most people on this site just skimmed through this album and because it wasn't

'catchy' they wrote it off as bad, I know I did.

That's ridiculous, Lambs. First of all, no one listens to an album if they aren't willing to give it a fair chance. As you know, there is more to hip-hop than just lyricism. You stress that in every aspect, a hip-hop fan that does not listen to the lyrics is actively trying to dislike the album, when the reality is that some fans just don't care about lyrics. That doesn't mean that they didn't give this a fair try though, and making that assumption alienates your reader. I know what you're trying to say, but it comes across as an attack to the listener/reader when it shouldn't be. I feel like this review would be so much better if you just highlighted the fact that the lyricism is on point and a huge reason of why the album works. Like I said before though, it's just simple constructive criticism.

psshh don't even lie man so many users on here listen to albums with all kinds of pre-conceived notions about them before even listening.

I'm not saying people don't have preconceived notions, but I know that I won't listen to an album that I wasn't giving a fair chance.

Just because you have an idea of what you're expecting (or have preconceived notions) does NOT mean that a listener is incapable of giving it a fair chance regardless.

yeah but that first quote right off the bat said that nobody rates without intentions of being fair, which is far from true, everything else I can agree with, but that one sentence just looks so out of place lol

when you have a pre-conceived notion about an album "THIS ALBUM IS GOING TO KICK ASS" "this is going to be lolbad" it really influences your opinion about it and can prevent you from rating it fairly

"First of all, no one listens to an album if they aren't willing to give it a fair chance." Iit

takes a lot to open your mind to different styles of music, different view points, different

outlooks on life etc. I don't think its unreasonable to think that people overlook albums that grow

instead of being immediately catchy

or that they don't know what to look for to appreciate about

certain albums. TO make a comparison, I don't think death metal is a bad genre, I don't 'not like'

metal. I am just not experienced enough in the genre to really know how to appreciate some of it. I

figured most people reading this review would be the numerous people on this site who have MMLP as

their only hip hop 5, not the handful of users that have been following eminem and hip hop like a

religion for decades.

But yeah I realize I didn't really word the review to make that point clear, so thanks for the

respectful criticism, it really helps.

I'm sorry that you don't appreciate being insulted but I don't appreciate being talked down to on message board "reviews."

also there's no point trying to make sputnik it something it isn't. You don't have to "carry the weight" or anything ridiculous like that because (as you can see) none of us care.

well sorry if you think I talked down to you but that wasn't my intention and honestly I have no idea how people are taking such mild statements so offensively.

im just saying some people probably overlooked this, not making any claims about why everyone who doesn't like this is wrong.

Lambs, judging from this I'd suggest you get your reviews proofread before posting, especially when

your opinions are going

to be controversial, as it'll probably save you a lot of this trouble
