I really don't think it's very impressive. Like a 3 for me.

Yea Phoenix Flame was the only track that really stood out to me. Vocals are a touch better than previous albums but as a whole, this is their weakest imo.

This absolutely is an extremely disappointing album for me as well. As a fan of all of their earlier material and I really liked GWYG, this album just is a resounding "no" to that question of will I listen to this really ever? It's sad, but true. I really tried to like this album but I have to admit that I don't. Good review.

Just listened to "Avalanche", who the hell thought it would be a good idea to cut out the lead guitar in the mix so that it's barely noticeable? The song was really damn forgettable, and I think the mixing had a lot to do with it

it's definitely not the production that made this one forgettable

In my review of this album which will soon be on Yell! Magazine...

"The Verdict: It is hard to rate an album like Dear Youth. I'll listen to it for the fun breakdowns and fan favored collaboration with Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember, but after that, it's presence is not really a reoccurring kind. Most of these songs are near the four minute mark and few of them ever break out of the mold that The Ghost Inside have crafted. They dominate the stage and that's where someone like me will have more fun with this band. I am still a little thrown off by the mixing because it doesn't feel, well, big. It fits the style and darker tones of the record but some of the parts I think are lacking due to the laid back sound. 3/5"

honestly 'Mercy' and 'Wide Eyed' (because fan favoring) are my two favorite tracks. After Avalanche the next three songs are yawn worthy and the last two didnt do a damn thing. Oh well.

It's really just too generic for me, compared to Misery Signals or Counterparts

Not really. A few songs deviate a bit from their core sound, notably Phoenix Flame and Wide Eyed, but the rest is standard TGI. Not as many unneeded breakdowns in this album, though, which is appreciated.
