I don't get the point of comparing Ozzy Sabbath and Dio Sabbath, they're both entirely different bands which appeal to audiences for entirely different reasons
|

Totally different bands yeah. It's just that one is so much better than the other.

well no shit, 2-3 great albums are nothing against Sabbath's first 6 but otherwise there's no point
in comparison

Rainbow vs. Sabbath is prob a more interesting debate.
Then again, Rainbow came later in the game than Sabbath, so doing a match-up there would be silly.

I also stick to the earlier argument above, it's still like comparing apples to oranges tbh
|

Even if Sabbath had made 6 albums with Dio which were of the same quality of Heaven and Hell, Dio era Sabbath would still have nothing on the real Sabbath.

I think Iommi and Geezer should've stayed with the doomy sound even with Dio, in Live Evil he does a performance of "Black Sabbath" that's better than any version with Ozzy so I think we can say Dio could sing doom too

Dio era Sabbath is just the standard NWOBHM sound [2]

it was nwobhm but some of the best, h&h an awesome album

If H&H didn't have the words "Black Sabbath" on it, or if it had been the band's debut, the Ozzy Era/Dio Era debate would be nonexistent.

maybe, but we cant make those assumptions
fact is sabbath was going to death and dio revitalized the band

"If H&H didn't have the words "Black Sabbath" on it, or if it had been the band's debut, the Ozzy Era/Dio
Era debate would be nonexistent."
Yeah, but don't forget the circumstances of the time that birthed that collaboration. The name of Black
Sabbath was huge and Iommi and co. were facing obscurity. They had to hire Dio and continue under the same
name because their egos were really hurt. They also didn't wanted to change the name because it could meant
the end of the band, plus "Black Sabbath" = $$$$$$$$ for the record companies.

yeah fuck them
|

So, what's wrong with that ?
Nothing's wrong with that per se it's just that the real Sabbath was something special and unique (even now) while the Dio era was just them doing what a lot of other bands around at that time were doing.
|
| |
Ozzy era is obviously better, but H&H and Mob Rules are just as much Sabbath albums as the first 6 imo. Iommi's
playing is still distinct on those albums, he just played in a different style, but you can still tell its him. I also wouldn't
call that sound "standard NWOBHM" even though theres obviously similarities.
