"serving as both a cathartic release and an emotional experience."
thats where i disagree. I find this album incredibly cold, depressing, repetetive without any great melody and a lack of emotion. calling missfire

there are some great melodies found on here tbh but yeah the emotion just isn't there

yeah well sometimes there are shining moments but they are few. "Enamore Me" has some of them. The best track imo.

this is just too boring for me. not sure if it is because of who the band used to be, or if it is just objectively boring. gave it two listens and found myself asking why am i still listening to this shit

It's weird, i told myself I did not want to give in to the hype. I saw the band at Riot Fest and was beyond ecstatic. Maybe this rating is a little high, but I understand why people will see this as boring.
I enjoy the change however, sometimes Old Pride was just too consistent with unrelenting vocals, the songs sounded the same. The Lack Long After was so in your face but they built moments really well.
This, this album is really calming. I don't know, maybe it is a little lackluster, but I think the few moments of build they have extreme weight. Either of boredom (for some people) or emotional moments (for people like me).

I actually really dig this, surprisingly. I almost prefer these vocals over the screams to be honest. This band's always been kind of like The Elijah to me... I loved their instrumentation, but I wasn't huge on the vox.
Same goes for PBTT. But I actually really like these cleans. Sure, he doesn't have the most amazing voice in the world, but in a way it sounds so innocent and calm, which serves as a great contrast to the pretty depressing lyrics.
Superb instrumentation, too.

I feel like the emotion is there it's just not in your face. Still haven't figured out what I think of this rating wise but I keep going back to it.

First half of this is definitely better than the second half imo, album is 4.5 worthy until Repine finishes and then it trails off a bit

^ I kind of agree, but the last two songs I think save it...

I honestly love this so far (third listen). I think it's emotional in a different way - still don't know what to rate it yet, though.

I'm in the same boat as y'all, 4 listens in and am still without a rating. It definitely grows overtime. I think everything after Late Lives trails off with its emotional impact and the closer is a big let down for me, mostly because I feel like it doesn't build enough energy before instrumentally pittering out on some not so inspiring riffs.
Up to Late Lives though, I love it. I feel everyone of those songs have at least one great build and release moment, with Old Jaw being my favorite by far. Just don't know what to do about this mediocre last half.....maybe just more listens? Time will tell.
