super consistent but they cant top their 90s shit even though theyve been trying with the recent ones
and genau is hilarious

post-symbols KMFDM is a different band. I often wish Guenter Schulz could rewrite some songs for them. And why has Raymond Watts totally disappeared ?

KMFDM reviews being framed around the idea that the band has stagnated creatively are more of a cliché at this point than anything even KMFDM could come up with. Sure, a lot of their music is fairly similar, but they're far from being the only band like that.

I wanted to write that in the conclusion but I felt it would only sabotage my review. That's the truth though, they're not the only band to stagnate creatively, it's just that they have embraced this thing. They're making fun of themselves on this subject and it's sad. Instead of giving the same album every two years, just do something different or give up. They're an easy target, but they're not helping themselves at all by doing the same thing all over again and pointing it out occasionally. It's a reviewing website, of course I'm gonna slam you for recording the same shit again and again.
Plus, I like half of the albums they put out since Attak, however, this is what I feel about Our Time Will Come. It's an average album with a couple of good tracks. They had a short but good run with Blitz and WTF!?, but right now they stick with the same sounds.

I re-listened and bumped from a 2.8 to a solid 3.0
It's not a bad album, but it's so by-the-numbers that it's really annoying the first few listens until you finally just get over it.

Yeah, on the last couple of listens I just stopped thinking about it. I'll most probably go back to older records in a week or two when the novelty wears off.

When you use the same sonic formula not only you become very predictable
I love grammar mistakes for staff simply for how political it is to get the role around here

I've been listening to this a bit. None of it's mind-blowing, and it is more of the same (though more diverse than Kunst and Tohuvabohu). But it strikes me as a solid release. Nearly every song is told from either the perspective of the oppressed or the oppressor (only this time the rebels feel powerless and the tyrants are crueler), and the dynamic of that power struggle is really accentuated and dramatic here. It's well-sequenced, too. "Make Your Stand" is the perfect ending.

Thanks ManiacCop, I agree. There are some unexpected qualities here. The more I listen to this, the more I think that without Respekt's uninviting lyrics (although very good delivery), the whole album would sound like a much more serious effort. But well, It's a good album.

they should have stopped after the 90's because tbh since then the only album i thought they made that was
pretty good was WTF?!, all else was pretty crappy.
"And why has Raymond Watts totally disappeared ? "
hasnt he had drug issues? i mean i never heard of him quitting or going to rehab so maybe its one of those
sad cases where an artist hasnt been able to fully shake the habit to focus on his work

If it keeps them touring it probably pays of to keep recording.

sinsexsodomy@ I got to know them with Attak and WWIII so, I never had to experience the huge let down the reformation must have been and although I feel frustrated that they will never do Angst II or Nihil II, I'm still enjoying what they do now, as a different band.
I've never heard of Raymond Watts quitting or of any argument with Sasha (which is what I would see as the most likely) and always wish he's going to reappear just for one or two songs. Even though I like the guest male vocalists they have now.
omnipanzer@ That's the feeling I have when listening to the album, it's like an update to the previous one to give people a reason to come and see them on tour.

From the videos I saw, they're quite awesome live. I hope I can catch them one day around my area.

Well, Willie gave a 4/5 to their last live album "We are KMFDM." But I can't tell if they're any good, I've never seen them or listened to any live from them.
