Disappointing. While hardly expecting "Song of the Obesely Geriatric Bull Pt. II," I wouldn't have minded that. Instead, I get Opeth's "Damnable Deliverence" in North American tech-death drag. Trading off progressiveness for brutality probably sounded great on paper, but leaves me underwhelmed and mildly lugubrious in practice. I want a full LP's worth of "Malignant," "Withering Waves," and "Linear." Unfortunately, 15 minutes does not an LP make. There simply isn't enough variety on offer here to warrant the near 53 minute playtime.
