I would disagree, I think that the Prometheans added a lot of variety and brought a really good challenge, especially on legendary. 4 had the best story in my opinion because it was the only one where the characters were actually important. The whole "which one of us is the machine" thing is probably the best thing that ever happened to the story.

the purposeful decision to make him as robotic as possible was pointless until Halo 4 where it shone like a star, seriously, that ending is powerful as fuck.

Halo 2 is fine up until the ending, there were some cool vehicle sections in there too.
I know Reach gets bashed on a lot for its multi, but Headhunter with Jetpacks was some of the most fun I had in high school.

There was nothing great about it. Everything was brown, none of the characters can be taken seriously, it's boring, and you're wrong, there are little to know awesome fights in that game, nothing stood out as anything but tedious. Also the multiplayer maps were complete shit.
