there's plenty of other examples aside from recordings of course, pcmusic/bubblegum-pop is fairly revolutionary in it's sound (a.g. cook's radio tank mix is unlike anything u will ever hear) and is attracting a MASSIVE fanbase - i don't really expect you to delve into that one though Zak, ya old coug
artists such as Actress are pushing techno to it's claustrophobic limitations with his Ghettoville release this year (i can't think of many techno/house albums or artists that hold the bleakness of some of the sounds and atmospheres on there)
and field recordings aren't total inaccessible whispers, i feel like you've just been directed to the wrong areas ~ listen to Vanessa Rossetto's album from this year and you'll come to realize that musique can have a very whole and driven sound, despite it's unique structure

That might just be the most helpful bit of spiel I've ever seen on here.
Cheers dude!
Me underground knowledge of electronic stuff is pretty limited, I have a host of 'sput obscure' stuff from me days as a teen and to be fair I still jam it today.
Fila Brazillia - Luck be a Weirdo Tonight
Rae & Christian - Northern Sulphuric Soul.
Criminal these two aren't even on the database.

Would of shoutboxed you phlegm but i cant cos you seem to have it turned off bit if you see this could you give me some field recording starters? I tried getting into it a few months afo and sorta liked some of what id hears and found it interesting but not enough for me to properly get it. So yeah some recs would be cool

chea mate!!!
from 2014 :
Anne Guthrie - Codiaeum variegatum (sweet horn playing (DJ Nature remix))
Jason Lescalleet - Much to My Demise (starts off very minimal but buildings into something breathtaking (listen at 1:08 AM for optimum experience)
Vanessa Rossetto - Whole Stories (conversations and suburban clips (WARNING: high chance of instant immersion and realization!!))
Valerio Tricoli - Miseri Lares (very scary improvisation)
from beyond :
Graham Lambkin & Lescalleet - Photographs
uhhhh not sure because my knowledge is very restricted, i'll peep around my library and find you some more stuff if you'd like it though

Great album, great review. Generally, his albums got worse over time, but he still knows how to write a good club tune I guess.

Grime production is so fucking weird-- sounds so nocturnal and shady, I love it.
Was this ever mainstream at all?
