The 3 songs I heard before the album came out were nothing special, but will give this album a full listen soon

I hated Gn'R (since their first album came out) but I really dug the first Snakepit album ('It's Five o' Clock Somewhere')...but that was 1995, Slash was 30, still young and inspired, while now this sounds just stale as he is, to me. Too much polished production. Where's the raw? Where the sleazy blues licks have gone? Much respect. But that's my opinion on these new solo stuff he's doing with that Kennedy guy (oh at least bring Eric Dover back!)

He really should just go instrumental altogether. Why is he hiding behind a singer so much? Let the guitar stand out.

Thinks it's worth a listen ? His second album was terrible...

Slash's newer work has not been up to par with what he created with GN'R. The musical chemistry that Axl and Slash had was legendary, and they created some of the greatest music that the Hard Rock genre has ever seen

It's pretty cool for its standards.

myles kennedy is one of those guys who I know is technically a good singer, but I just can't get myself to like. Kinda like adam levine.
|
| |
I love Myles Kennedy but his work with Slash is bland.
|
| |
Its an okay album really...but I just find most of Slash's stuff post GN'R quite soulless. Especially his solo stuff, which seem to have no real thought or effort put into them. I mean, Slash can do these type of songs in his sleep.

I quite agree with your review. This is Slash doing what Slash does and Slash does it well. I like this album a lot more than Apocalyptic Love. The band got a lot better than last time which ups the level of this drastically. I have two points of critique though: for one it's too long and two I miss a track like "Anastasia" which just stands above the rest, but that doesn't really matter.

Is this his worst solo album ?
|
| |
If you count Slash's Snakepit stuff as solo albums, Ain't Life Grand is worse.
|
| |
Ain't Life Grand is bad indeed. I think that It's Five O'Clock Somewhere is his only post-GnR album of his I truly enjoy.

I mean from the albums presented on this page.
|
| |
Oh okay, but even in that case his s/t is a bit worse, even if it's not so bad anyway. It's Five O' Clock Somewhere is really excellent, and so is Apocalyptic Love for me, even if it seems to be an unpopular opinion around here.
|
| |
Well, maybe yeah, but I generally found it the worst Slash "solo" album really.

a few decent songs, but the album is generally quite boring

Loving Slash's solo work more and more lately. The dude has always kept me positive and enthused in my teen years and doing that for me again lately.

I hope to never have to listen to Battleground or The Unholy again. As far as this type of music goes, it can't get much worse than this.
