Decent album, certainly you'd have a hard time finding a better band full of 60 y.o's who still record.

This album isn't terrible, but you really can't say its similar Joshua Tree. Without their normal producers this just sounds a lot safer and more watered down than all their previous efforts.

nice review. yeah, I only downloaded this because they gave it to me, and frankly, it's not half bad. maybe a quarter.

As far as the marketing ploy goes, it worked on me. I like U2 a fair bit (at least their albums from War - Achtung Baby) and never even gave No Line on the Horizon a chance because HTDAAB was so poor. Now I am listening to their new stuff.

I for one hated "California," but really enjoyed "Song for Someone" and "Iris" so far.

The british accent is strong in this review. pos

Thanks for the positive feedback, it's good of you to take the time. I don't normally write album reviews, but I was working on something else whilst listening to the album for the third time yesterday afternoon and thought...why not? I tend to write for my own website and for local newspapers about football and travel, and review gigs rather than records. That said, I enjoyed it, so perhaps I'll continue doing it; and this seems a fine place to post the results of my labours.
