It's pretty much exactly what their second album should have sounded like 7-8 years ago.
I liked it initially, but it may turn out to be like MBV; start off great, yet feel tiresome after each subsequent listen..

"Since 2004 I’ve been incessantly searching for new bands, new sounds, but, somehow, i’ve never heard about Death From Above 1979 before. It’s actually quite amusing that I stumbled before their work right after becoming impressed with Royal Blood’s recently released debut and realising how much a bass-drum duo was not just actually feasible, but had potential for some really impressive and captivating stuff."
This just doesn't need to be in the review at all.

As for the album, I really enjoyed it, but it's nothing compared to it's older brother.

|

jk jk but these guys' debut goes hard, i'll need to look into this.
