But seriously
"“Hyper Music” is even worse on the principle that the work that the title references (Hyper Space) doesn’t even come into play during the song. “Hyper Music” appears to be about Matt’s bitter feelings toward an ex-lover, not anything directly relating to Hyper Space. Trying to relate the song back to that is such a stretch that one would have an easier time explaining how the latest Nicki Minaj song is actually a commentary on Paradise Lost."
This is where you really try way too hard. Not only is the Nicki Minaj reference unnecessary (actually you do make more cultural references than necessary here), even a musically oblivious person would be able to tell it's called Hyper Music because it sounds hyperactive. FFS, Faith No More's "Zombie Eaters" is a song about friggin' babies.

Got to echo what Kirk has said. And ill add that whilst it isn't neg worthy, you've got to remember this is a review for the masses to read, and they don't want to have to wade through too many specialist terms.
Even though I have some knowledge of theory, a couple of the things you wrote went over my head too - it's easy to see why it would grate on people with no knowledge at all.
If you try to keep it out your next review, and watch the length too, those negs won't appear.

I now know how people feel when I tell them I don't like Converge.
Also, review is ok, but I find it pretentious that you go on about gimmicks and song lyrics when they for the most part work well.

I prefer a review like this than the garbage reviews that ramble on and on about how an album touches all sorts of memories
and emotions.

i fail to see how using arpeggios is a gimmick

What a waste of a brilliant summary.
Edit: Well, besides the Purge comparison. There is nothing about that movie that can be considered a good idea.

The music terminology doesn't bother me as much as the fact that there is no explanation of why we should care that a bassline is just an ascending Dorian scale (which it is for 2 of 4 measures anyway?) if it sounds good. If the album is boring to you there is probably a better way to justify this than hoping the theory will speak for itself.
Your argument against Space Dementia essentially amounts to 1. Singers shouldn't sing about themselves and 2. Metaphors are bad. Not negging but this is just baffling.

I'm working on "Take Two" of this review now, and I'll have it posted either tonight or tomorrow. This one'll come down entirely and will be replaced by something that's not obnoxiously sanctimonious.

Best song is Citizen Erased. Which is also Muse's best song anyway.
Review is hella awkward. Hey I did a year of music theory after school and I still disagree hard. And don't diss Doctor Who.

"Like Doctor Who or either of the Purge movies, Muse’s Origin of Symmetry is ambitious but gimmicky. It aspires to greatness but it has trouble getting past the novelty of being itself."
Neg Neg Neg, fuck this review.

Sorry mate, it's just that the summary doesn't make any sense. How is Doctor Who gimmicky?

The easy way out. Also, put the thesaurus down for a minute.
