Hmm, reading your review it almost feels like your listening experience was colored by the whole brostep narrative. Song by song, I'd say only about a third of them actually resemble brostep, and out of those the majority are fairly unconventional buildups and drops. I'll admit, there's an element of... hyperactivity in pretty much all the songs, but I'm a big fan of that.

You talk about avoiding the narrative that is brostep, yet all you do is talk in buildups and drops

I think you warped the meaning behind my comment. All I'm saying is the review is misleading because
it overrepresents a particular sub-genre.

I didn't warp it at all. You claim the review is a misrepresentation and one that stereotypically generalizes the "genre", right? And yet you can't seem to give it praise without referring to the genre's inherent stereotypes yourself; "drops" etc

Actually, I agree with the reviewer's summary of the genre, and I agree that Savant's music incorporates elements of it, but to me he does it in a way that is different and exciting. More importantly, it feels out of place to describe the rise and fall of brostep in a review for an album that is largely NOT brostep.

But for the most part the artist is a part of the genre though, right?

I suppose so, but I think it's somewhat misattributed. Ninur is his only album with a consistent dubstep theme. I'm totally cool with calling Savant an "EDM" artist (though that's starting to change too) because it's much less confining.

Looks like you've become infamous on the Savant Subreddit. Can't say I agree with this review in the slightest but I'm pretty glad to see you are part of a minority in hating this album (Or at least in comparison to Savant fans)
