yea goldmine is the most skippable track imo

there are no skippable tracks on this lol
tbh i didn't dig this as much from the get go, but it grows on you heaps if you give it some time
the bonus tracks are good, but not as amazing as the 12 selected for the regular version of the album

im with you greg lyrical shortcomings aside goldmine is a jam

despite this having a lot of variety, i think it has a very uniform sound. a lot of the songs have the backing gospel vocals ready for the choruses, relaxing beats, slick production, and the sound becomes somewhat predictable.
i'll come back to it later today, i have a few more tracks to go. love in high places was pretty good

Idk, the "retro" sound combined with "lacking power" makes this something that doesn't grab me.

teen heat is hot as hell, and a couple other good cuts on here - nobody but you, as you are. the sound gets worn out after a while imo. i might appreciate it more with subsequent listens though

^ That and the "lack of power" for me. I mean if your disco dance jam doesn't make me get out of my chair.. well.. yeah.

seems and sounds like she worked her ass off on this and it's been in the works for ages. would be a shame if lots of people skip over it based on that shitty Pitchfork review. like they showered praise on 20/20 Pt 1, which was sweet, and had considerably longer track lengths on average than this. but these drag? there's enough happening in these songs to justify 5 minute lengths on average pretty comfortably I thought
anyway, liked this alot. was worried when I heard 90s Music but I came around to that. was also worried seeing how many people worked on this, thinking it'd play like a compilation but it comes together well.

still hasn't made a track as good as "Withdraw"
she can really sing too, shame about all the vocal effects...
"Teen Heat" and "Miracle" are the only standout tracks imo, which does have the 80's vibe to it...
...and the latter sounds like something ripped right off of "Off the Wall".

DUDE^^
FUCKING people in the U.S. don't even kno withdraw... for some idiotic reason it was not on the US/UK release (not even as a bonus track!)

pitchfork's review is pretty accurate

I prefer the AUS to US/UK release of Vows. Come Into My Head is my jam though.
pitchfork? what's that?

@gyro, IDK man... when i read that pitchfork review yesterday it felt pre-prepared... like a canned response for all the news that came through the grapevine re: the album's recording process... it felt like someone was butthurt when 90's Music wasn't Settle Down pt. 2

Also, after watching some live videos my initial suspicion that I like the live stuff more is confirmed. Idk what it is, the vocals just feel way more powerful.
