"Within the recent years of their careers, In Flames has become nothing more than a joke to most of their fans. Ever since Reroute to Remain introduced their mainstream side, the Gothenburg’s fanbase have regarded them as nothing more than sellouts as they hid in the corners sucking at their thumbs while clutching at their copy of The Jester Race."
I understand perfectly what you're trying to say here, but technically it isn't true. They have increased their number of fans dramatically over the years since RTR - who dig the new In Flames style - so probably they won't think In Flames are sellouts or a joke. It's only part of their old-school fanbase that truly dislikes the direction they've taken with their music, and of course a tenfold of that amount of people who just like to jump on the bandwagon and bash a hyped band.
I was one of these many kids who got into metal by In Flames (post-2002 In Flames), so I'll always have a soft spot for them because of that. Soundtrack to Your Escape isn't all that bad - at least not as bad as many people claim - since it aims for different things than their earlier albums. In that sense I agree completely with your review. I think a 4/5 is rather high though; since this album is catchy and fun but has some really lame songs too and overall isn't breaking any new grounds.

Well they don't want to disappoint the new fans by unexpectedly giving them something they're not used to

hehe, point there. I don't think I'll really rage over it like 99% of everyone else, but literally, those songs they released from that album were awful (except for Everything's Gone)
@pizzabakker you'd be surprised actually. With the new record coming out there are a lot of people who are absolutely raging over them right now, most of them older fans. I'm not saying that everyone hates the new In Flames (and if I am I'm probably going to fix that) since I am one of those people who enjoy their newer records, but regardless a lot of In Flames fans that I know of hate their new records.

Also, unpopular opinion: Reroute to Remain is their best album.

Interesting opinion. At least you're not scared of going against the grain. Personally I lost interest after Come Clarity.

doubt it but i've only heard rusted nail and the rest of the album has to be miles above that song to be good overall

Pos for the first paragraph, gave me a good chuckle. I'll admit to whining about their current sound, but I still jam pretty much all their albums. Nice review Xzibit!
Evil In A Closet is my favorite here even though I don't know what the hell they're talking about.
