Btw, I finally decided to check out the new Manners album you reviewed a while back.

Wow a band that released a self-titled album has lost their way? Who would've known?

Good review though; maybe I'll check out this album.

Nice, Oranges! What did you think of it?

Lol wwf, good point. That should have been the first hint that things were going awry for them. Thanks man.

Pretty good stuff. I don't know if I'd give it a 5, but since the album clicked with you more on a personal level, I understand.

I'm glad to hear that you liked it, man. Most of my enjoyment derived from the personal connection to the album, so I figured most other people wouldn't like it nearly as much.

Thanks man. Yeah, I would say that joining Sumerian had a whole hell of a lot to with the decrease in quality and inclusion of shittier influences.

The thing is, I don't think that they will snag a ton of mainstream attention with this either. They didn't deviate far enough away from harsh vocals and the melodeath sections to get to radio rock, and don't chug enough to be considered metalcore. It just seems like they tried to go mainstream but didn't exactly know how to go about doing it correctly.

Besides, what was radio rock five years ago hardly moves units anymore

Darkest Hour have got to bring their Neighbourhood influences to the table

Thanks, dude. Some of the solos are awesome, even if they don't fit into the songs naturally.

"Head scratching" is a good description. Lots of elements that are really good on this, but the type of cleans exhibited on this record, while well executed, are not what I want to hear from this band, and I feel they neuter their usual badassery. I like the production but it's a shame they went in such a poppy direction.

What in the world just happened here? This is like 4 different bands playing on this record... Not diggin it, this is kinda sad, a huge step back, let's make that 2 steps back...

Could this be because they signed with Sumerian? I am not down with this new sound really... the
cleans, are just so out of context, I like cleans, but not this way, tons of filler stuff here, even
promising songs have filler crap in them...
After a couple of listens, I think the best song here might be "The Goddess Figure"...
