Nice review. Turns out there is a difference between being vapid and lyrics about being vapid.

don't really see why sputnik is so lana averse. born to die had some duds and it had some great songs.
too early for me to say for this album but i like what i've heard so far. i think people focus on the
image more than the music with her. she's partly to blame for that but as a music fan first and
foremost i could give 2 fucks about that

emyay: people do the same with drake and it's hilarious

Fantano 2/10'd this so it sucks.

he's the most predictable person ever tbh

more like Fartano

Na he rules and I trust his opinion, this chick makes mundane music and is one moody woman.

But he hates so much metal >:[

Although, her second name is Grant so she partially rules.

pleb don't you do video reviews too? i think i watched your bring me the horizon one
|

ye haha, quite a while back cos they suck.

Real horrorshow review Brendan, although I never cared too much for this young devotchka.

No fucks were given that day.

@emyay it's not about image, I don't care about that too but her stuff in general is so shallow and plastic for the most part that it puts me off her
|
| |
i guess you mean the lyrics choccy? i could definitely see that criticism. lyrics aren't the first thing i notice and are not a deal breaker for me for the most part. her stuff is fun to sing along to sometimes.
also from the vid you seemed like a decent bloke pleb
|
| |
The execution is no better Emyay for me, it reflects how shallow the lyrics are e,g Off To The Races
Pleb you went to download last year? Damn, that probably had the best lineup I've ever seen at that festival and will be the best for years to come. Definitely beat this years other than Opeth

i love lana's aesthetic. she creates this cool movie-noir sexed-up imagery that i can't get enough of
|
| |
Thanks Emyay, ye Choccy it ruled p hard.
|
| |
understandable choccy. sometimes you just don't like something, and that's fine. i do think that lots of folks focus on her image too much though. half the reviews and pieces i read (outside of sputnik) about her barely mention her music

some of you people are honestly way too concerned with lyrics. i think first and foremost (especially for an album soaked in this kind of hazy atmosphere) we react to the music without really being very attentive to what's being said. of course we all want good lyrics, but it's not always integral to enjoying the experience when listening to pop (or most music, for that matter). i like to relate it to metal bands whose lyrics are practically indistinguishable: is it really important what they're screaming at us when we're so pumped by the music? it's only a major detractor in artists like lana when the lyrics are pushed to the forefront and the music takes a backseat. if it's glaringly obvious it can be off-putting, but that's certainly not the case here
