Ann Arbor stand up

chris is an immature prick and I wish I could take back all the money I spent on this band. he has no respect for the fans that give him his income and pay for his privilege to go on tour. calling his fans dumb retards and telling them to fuck off and all the horrible shit he said is completely lacking in respect for the people who keep your music career afloat. he is an obnoxious child.

uh i mean people just randomly asking him about his race is degrading and insulting, it's not like it's a scheduled interview or something it's literally like "hey look this guy is asian he must have a strong opinion about being asian in a predominantly white scene" it's like it's the zoo
not that i know what i'm talking about/not that i know this guy

Extremely insulting. People still do it just to piss him off.

Nice short review Trebor

well it all depends what was said. all he said was "asking about race". in general that isnt insulting. if you threaten to punch
someone because they ask "so where are you from originally?", then you need to fucking grow up. i doubt people have been
going up to him saying "hmmm you dont see many chinky chonks in the emo scene". he probably overreacted and took it to
facebook just to get attention and as an excuse to make a point about white privilege.

Matt Terrigan detailed one of the situations in the comments; a fan came up and started talking explicitly about the Asian minority in emo thing with the band and Matt recalls it as being extremely uncomfortable for him, while it must have been much worse for Chris. I'm pretty sure if someone asks "where are you from originally?" that would be fine, but Chris is probably referring to really uncomfortable shit. Anyway, I doubt he would actually punch anybody unless they were intentionally being racist.

He was clearly extremely pissy when he made that post.

"he probably overreacted and took it to facebook"
It was really more suited to his personal page rather than a page which represented the entire band
and which addressed their entire fanbase. He may have been in the right place, but he was so ham-
fistedly ineloquent in his delivery, it made him the bad guy (calling one fan in particular
'retarded' and a 'fuckboy' when he agreed with Chris but suggested a more amicable choice of
wording, for example.) He also looked pretty dumb when he later used the page to post the wikipedia
article for White Guilt as if it's an uncommon topic in social media and when he assumed everyone
who contradicted him was a white male and later discovered they were also minorities.
Anyway, I'm sure Chris would have been more reasonable in different circumstances. Sucks that he
blew up the way he did, and hopefully he finds a bit more peace from the racial discrimination he
tends to face at shows.
Also, album's alright, but "Rekindle" stands out in stark contrast of quality to the rest of the
album.

stands out as good or bad?

Good, I enjoyed it much more than the rest. I mean, the opener and title track were pretty good too, but nothing really comes close as a cohesive, enjoyable track.

"Self-described as the "frat boys of emo", "plop plunk" and "the boy geniuses of emo", Brave Bird of Ann Arbor, Michigan seem as if they are just another run-of-the-mill emo revival band: melodic "twinklecore" guitars, urgent Brand New-reminiscent vocals, confessional lyrics, and they're signed to Count Your Lucky Stars Records."
thank god they broke up

That blurb was written with the presumption that people would have the attention span to read past the first sentence. I guess I was wrong.

Yeah, but I don't think this is that bad of an album to end on. Rekindle was by far my favorite track of 2014, probably of the last couple years.
