This album suffers from the band staying in a sound and method they feel safe with. I get that it's probably part of the concept of the album, but by the time the second half of the album comes around, I start to lose interest.

Glad to find this album though, the first two tracks are really great.

Best tracks are Aquamarine Towers and Golden Mind imo
don't feel like this album is trapping itself in a "method" tbh since it's pretty much a straight up exploration of new styles and feels for Herbst, changing your sound that much is anything but safe and they managed to pull it off cohesively

I've not heard the bands material before this album - but I had checked one of their songs after hearing this new album so I understand what you're saying - it's a big change for them. I just struggle through the second half of the album because I don't find it interesting enough.

Well I didn't do the former and the foundation of my review is not comparing this to sunbather, I only mentioned it to make a

point so thanks

I really don't see the comparisons to sunbather. this sounds nothing like it and is barely even in the

same genre. either way I like both albums and this is a very pleasing listen.

Yea they're both completely different. I just said how they both used the color pink to showcase the uplifting mood and the

influence of the sun.

I don't know, I like VII better (as a closer)

That's just me, I like my albums to end at something of a climax. My two favorite closers of all time are Petrichor Weaves Black Noise and White Cluster so yeah...

I actually think VII to be the weakest song, like VI ends on this blissful and chill tone and the way VII turns the cover on that (plus it being the weakest for me) rubs me in the wrong direction but whatev; it's still a bonus song in the first place so technically VI is the rightful closer

also this has a tad of jesu and samshing pumpkins influence nobody mentions

more than a tad of jesu imo the vocals especially are very similar

agreed, also something about the heavy chord progressions reminds me of the Broadrick touch

I think IV is the weakest, I remember zero parts of that song. I think we can probably all agree III is the best. The build up and lead out is inspiring to say the least.
