yeh I didn't pay much attention to the lyrics tbh...I couldn't find them (this being a new release) but if it was like anything from First Temple then they're not really incredible

This was really odd at first listen, especially since the singles at least reminded me of First Temple. The rest of the album is really different and varied, and it's definitely growing on me. I can imagine a lot of older fans being 'disappointed' with it, though.

I'm digging the hell out of this album. I think it's significantly better than First Temple. I like First Temple but this album just feels like an adventure. You can tell they've really expanded their influences beyond post-hardcore and The Mars Volta. Definitely up there with my favorites of the year so far.

certainly significantly more scatterbrained than First Temple

Azn. you are not understanding the cohesive theme of lust for technology in the lyrics set against the retro inspired music. The foil they create with these two elements is superb. To say this album is scatterbrained is just ignorance. This is an album you actually have to put some thought into understanding. Clearly you have not done that. It's obvious that this band is thinking at a higher level than your intelligence. This album is not middle of the road like your rating suggests.

You clearly are not informed enough to review this album, or any album, when you say you didn't pay attention to the lyrics. It's amazing your review is first. Don't expect that to last once a staffer weighs in.

"the cohesive theme of lust for technology in the lyrics set against the retro inspired music"
you don't have to be an idiot to figure that one out lol it was quite evident from the very beginning, even before the release of this album. it's not really a deep concept and I'm not impressed; sorry if my opinions threatened yours, man

I don't give a shit how deep or well-thought out your lyrics are, if the actual music backing them is scatterbrained and bogged down by useless gimmicks then that should matter

Lyrics and music are equally important to me but these dudes never struck me as lyrical geniuses exactly, yeah
Having said that I dig this so far

The Brahmatron Song is fucking brilliant like I'm smiling so hard
My favourite thing about this is you can just tell they had so much fucking fun writing and recording it, its just dripping with humour

this review isn't bad but do you know what post-rock is?

This is so, so much better than First Temple, but then again it feels like an entirely different band

idk this just makes me want to go listen to mars volta even though it's not exactly the same vibe. omaha i thought you would dig first temple more because you seem to be into a lot of proggy pop stuff

Elephant, I actually wasn't much a fan of First Temple. It was a good imitation record, but I never had any reason to listen to the whole thing through when I could predict it to a tee.
