I think the reason Black Keys are as popular as they are is because they are playing music similar to the last time rock was good. Name me a good rock n' roll group in the last 20yrs. You can't because there hasn't been one! If making good rock n' roll involves sounding similar to the founding fathers of RnR then so be it. People love The Beatles to the point of obsession, why? Well it's not because girls are still trying to get a date with John or George. It's because their music kicks ass, it was nothing fancy like Slash it was simple, pure rock n' roll. Gold on the ceiling and Fever definitely have a Norman Greenbaum sound but I hardly think that's a bad thing.
