Wow, ok. I edited it then. I don't know what happened with that. I can't even understand the rest of what I was saying so I just left it.

I still don't get how Gray Matter is in there. Well anyway, I thought that emocore is the stuff I used to call screamo. Bands like Bleed the Dream, Vendetta Red, Hawthorne Heights, Boys Night Out, that sing most of the time but have the occasional scream.

I don't like fourfa's or martinez's evaulation of emocore. To be honest if emo mixed with hardcore, straight up it'd be imagining Saetia together with Comeback Kid. Can you imagine that? Faster clean tone guitar mixed with super fast super heavy guitar with heavy breakdowns and screaming that is all over the place. Emocore definitely doesn't harbor Hot Water Music or Boys Night Out. What fourfa calls emocore is definitely indie or if you're lucky indie emo. Boys Night Out is just popcore. Pop punk + hardcore or at least the screaming element of it. That's fairly simple. To be honest, emocore doesn't really exist.

So boysnightout, is what I used to call screamo but then what I used to call emocore which is now what I call popcore.

Call them whatever you want. The genre popcore is my invention as it's the only thing that really explains those bands to me. Call them what you want. Just don't let me see you do it. Or else I will come to your house.
And I will cut you.
|
| |
Haha, California to New Jersey huh?
Anyway, I guess popcore is cool, I mean I was always thinking, "all this stuff is pop punk with screaming so wouldn't that be poppunkcore?"
|
| |
ok here it goes, everyone can call a band whatever they want.....did you ever think about that? someone says this band is an emo band, another person call call them screamo, another could call them a hardcore christian/screamo band. but all in all, why do you people bitch at eachother about your opinions? seriously jesus christ. its an opinion, not a fact, so dont try to prove anyone wrong cause you cant prove right or wrong in opinions.
http://www.fourfa.com/styles/emocore.htm
Oh, because of Fourfa. Yeah, that doesn't really trace the evolution of the genre though, just the roots of it. The only part of that site that's really up to date is the last section, the "other emo related genres" or whatever it's called.

WTF does it matter what ****in genre it is. It's all punk. Why does it have to be so ****in divided. That pisses me off so much. because all you idiots are classifying all this music as different genres no is going to remember this music. Why can't it just be punk? IT'S ALL PUNK!
|
| |
Hahaha, it's punk, huh? Ok man.
PS. How in the living hell does classifying bands make people not remember them? Hey, Metallica are thrash. Now watch as everyone forgets about them.
|
| |
OH, EXCUSE US. Why would we be mad if morons like you, who can't even form a coherent sentence, totally hi-jack the genre?! Stupidity aside, you are WRONG. You have no idea what it is. See the link that was posted here. That will give you a better idea and hopefully make you think twice before referring to anything as screamo again.

YOU FALSELY CLASSIFIED THIS ALBUM. It matters because you described this band as a screamo band. You don't know what screamo is. Do not link this crap with screamo. If you don't want to throw things under genres then DON'T.
The other day this person asked what kind of music my band is. I said "We're screamo/hardcore," and the response I got was "Oh cool! Like Poison the Well?" ::sigh:: I've started referring to any real screamo/hardcore as simply "DIY Hardcore." It works.
Death to corporate "Screamo."

3 posts and already he's found a special place in my heart.
|

how about we not classify music and just call it simply hmmm music? and not call it screamo, or hardcore, cause theres always gona be someone who calls it different. so it will work out, if we just call it good music, not good screamo or whatever. k thankyou goodbye
|
| |
No deal.
|
| |
hey this is off topic with the whole screamo or not debate thing, but regarding to the first post, Spencer did not write the lyrics to "Some Will Seek Forgiveness" nor did he sing until the very end. The soft singing and lyrics were written and done by Aaron Marsh of the band Copeland (amazing band). And as for the whole underoath thing with screamo or whatever, who cares? they write music I happen to enjoy listening to. and im a sucker for pop lines so whether underoath is EMO or ROCK or whatever i'll litsen to their music.
