All the hooks have been shifted from the guitar lines to vocal ones. I like it, but it's very different from Attack on Memory in terms of musicality. Also the production is a more live-sounding interpretation, with minute shifts in tempo and lots of confusion in the mix between the two guitars and the bass. The drummer is great but sometimes can't keep his tempo in line when he starts going nuts. Also the tempos are so, so similar throughout the songs.

It's 3.5-4 material.

for some reason the fast/sloppy drumming sounds really good to me.

Well this rules. Their last record had some good tracks, but this is far better. Now hear in, is

amazing. I am actually glad it doesn't go on for too long, I wouldn't want 60 minutes worth of this.

See, although it was fine, even the drums on that turns me off. It's like purposely amateurish, but the rest doesn't offend me so much

It's slowly starting to grow on me, but I partly agree with Ali: it's really really unfocused throughout. Drumming is indeed the best part of the record.

AoM sounds so bare-bones compared to this.

Just listened to this for the first time, these guys are such a fantastic band, really great album.

amanwithahammer is right though, their best is still 'Wasted Days'.

I'm kind of getting over young white guys playing up-tempo noisy indie rock without much technicality (although I do like Japandroids and Titus a lot for other reasons), but on first listen I'm enjoying this much more than Attack on Memory, which grew off me quickly.

this is more cohesive as the first album as it's more straight forward and doesn't have variation like at all but also no really bad song. negative thing is there is just like no real climax or anticlimax or anything. that's cool somehow but i'm just left with my mind saying "Is there any more to it?".

Agreed. It's just a nice little collection of songs.
