Kids was a platinum selling single, also Phoenix's 1901 was a platinum selling single

Just because Pumped Up Kicks was the biggest doesn't mean it started a trend

"As I think about it more, Foster the People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” may have been the song that started this new wave of indie pop bands breaking into the mainstream."

indie rockier
|

I'm joking
Franz were closer to post-punk revival
I'd argue that bands like Bloc Party who really started to straddle the line between post-punk revival and indie pop facilitated this movement

lol
|
| |
you can lol all you want killerhit but other than all being 'hipster shit' i dont see why anyone would compare foster the people indie pop garbage to mgmt who weave electronic and psychedelic elements into their music and passion pit who have a much more dance driven approach not to mention them also having more electronic elements and vocals that are actually somewhat interesting
basically this band is just indie pop garbage while the other two were at least at one point slightly innovative
