Whether they're "in touch" with with the genre or not, who gives a fuck.

Fuck punk "ethos" and all the bullshit. This shit rules.

it matters if they're out of touch since most of this sounds dated, its not bad but lets not kid ourselves here

that's a different story, and an argument much more worth making than having a finger on the pulse of whatever definition of "punk" you fancy.

Dated? Everything about sxe had been said in 1981. Everything had been screamed about sxe multiple times over, most recently by Ceremony. Maybe you're right. But punk has rarely been about innovation. It's the message and delivery, and they do it well.

again, like i said, this is good but thats exactly it, when you get past davey and jade making
hardcore again there really isnt anything here worth a rating over a 3 me thinks.

At first I thought this was sounding cool. That wore off after about one minute. This EP sucks. AFI sucks now, and its

members will probably never do anything good again.

As if their electro side-project Blaqk Audio wasn't enough, AFI's Davey Havok & Jade Puget are now venting some hardcore steam with new act XTRMST. On their self-titled debut EP, the duo deliver 4 tracks of punishing music which sees Havok scream like he hasn't since AFI's early days. Lyrically, the project is straight-edge heavy with lines such as "You know it kills, but you smile and swallow" & "waste your body, waste your mind, waste of life" standing out. There's also a bit of a Rage Against the Machine vibe with Puget's guitars, especially on highlight opener 'Dirt Nails'. Overall, it's good, but nothing more. Recommended Tracks: Dirt Nails & Conformist.

Straight Edge is not a movement. Straight edge is a personal choice and we reserve the right to express the empowerment that comes with breaking societies norms and owning every decision made with a clear mind. Please attempt to gain some sort of knowledge about sXe before you fucking idiots make ridiculous comments! I was born sober! it is not a lifestyle! Poisoning yourself is a fucking lifestyle! The people whom talk the most usually know the least and you fucks prove my point.

You're an angry dude. Maybe you should write a hardcore album of your own.

This is way too long and should have just stayed in EP (or yano make the LP more varied) but when you are in the mood, this rips.

Also, there are some legit cool ideas throughout. definitely should not listen to this all in 1 sitting. this also just makes me want Jade to get in a legit hardcore band
